Former AP DGP Sk Jayachandra IPS is soon joining Telangana BJP

HYDERABAD: Former Andhra Pradesh DGP IPS officer SK Jayachandra is likely to join the BJP, in line with the saffron party’s leaders’ desire that intellectuals and educated people join them. The 1978 batch IPS officer from Andhra Pradesh retired in 2011.
Sources indicated that SK Jayachandra would join the party on June 29 At Telangana Bjp State Office . A few select persons are also expected to attend the party along with him.
PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah had instructed the state leaders to bring in not only political leaders but well-known faces from all walks of life into the party.
The former police officer is associated with Bharat Seva Sahakaar forum ( BSSF NGO ) , a social service organization that helps the poor and carries out allied activities. The political inclination of the officer can be gauged from his support for the policies of the central government.
The BJP has already wooed some former bureaucrats. R Chandravadan, who retired as excise commissioner, joined the party much earlier, as did former chief secretary of Karnataka and Telugu officer Ratna Prabha, who worked in the then united Andhra Pradesh. Was She joined BJP in Hyderabad and also contested Tirupati bypoll against YRSCP candidate. Former Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh IYR Krishna Rao has also joined the party.
Apart from these former bureaucrats, BJP Telangana has already attracted employees’ union leaders as well as RTC Employees’ Union leader Ashwatthama Reddy.
Meanwhile, despite aggressively attacking the TRS, the party is facing stiff competition from the Congress in horse-trading from the ruling party. However, party leaders claim that when the auspicious period begins, many leaders from both Congress and TRS will join the saffron party before the elections.
